"Junior Achievers" Award Criteria

Purpose of the Award

The purpose of the BAFTX Junior Achievers award is to provide a summer study program and cultural exchange for academically adept students from low income families in the Houston area.

General Description of the Award

The award takes the form of a 12 day residential course in Great Britain where the student will receive an introduction to British culture. The Course will normally include visiting sites of historic and artistic  importance such as the Tower of London as well as attending a West End play. The Scholarship includes air/ground transportation, accommodations, meals, health insurance and a spending allowance.

Scholarship Requirements 

 A resident of Texas.
      (proof of residency required, SSN number, Citizen status)

Enrolled in full time education within the Texas education system.

 High School Jr year.

Consideration partially based on dependable annual household income.

In possession of a birth certificate, a valid passport (within 6 month expiry date) or eligible to receive one.

Maintain a competitive GPA (clearly showing marking out of 4.0/5.0 or 6.0) school marks and hold an excellent school attendance record.

Provide a completed Application Form along with the requested attachments.

 Be able to attend an Awards Dinner to receive scholarship.  (Usually May of the Award year.)
